Arise, my soul, arise,
Shake off thy guilty fears:
The bleeding Sacrifice
In my behalf appears:
Before the Throne my Surety stands,
My name is written on his hands.
He ever lives above,
For me to intercede,
His all-redeeming love,
His precious blood to plead;
His blood atoned for ev'ry race,
And sprinkles now the throne of grace.
Five bleeding wounds he bears,
Received on Calvary;
They pour effectual prayers,
They strongly plead for me;
Forgive him, O forgive, they cry,
Nor let that ransomed sinner die!
My God is reconciled;
His pard'ning voice I hear;
He owns me for his child,
I can no longer fear;
With confidence I now draw nigh,
And "Father, Abba, Father!" cry.

We just sang this at the Lord's Supper to-night!
One of Charles Wesley's wonderful hymns which I have not sung in WAY too long! I love these words for the confidence they express for the believer.
Nearly 30 years ago I was travelling by plane back from Italy and arriving at JFK in NY. On the plane was a Jewish family; don't know where they had been or what their final destination was. During the long flight one of the children called out to his father, "Abba!" I often remember that incident when I see or hear the word Abba as in this hymn. What a marvelous picture of our heavenly Father - that we can call him "Daddy!" and with confidence draw nigh to him.
Another great Charles Wesley hymn!
Such reassuring words that we all need to hear :0)
Have a wonderful week Dorothy!
Thanks so much, Dorothy.
