Sunday's Hymn: Nothing But the Blood of Jesus

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

O precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

For my cleansing this I see—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
For my pardon this my plea—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Nothing can for sin atone—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Naught of good that I have done—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

This is all my hope and peace—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
This is all my righteousness—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Now by this I'll overcome—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
Now by this I'll reach my home—
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

I LOVE this hymn! Reminds me of church camp and my heart welling up with love and amazement at what Christ has done for me.

I grew up singing this gospel hymn, probably every Sunday. All my hope and peace and righteousness, nothing but the blood of Jesus!

Thank you Dorothy! This is the hymn on the opening track of my CD (as arranged by Joseph Martin). All the pieces were chosen because they speak of issues of faith - I can think of no stronger statement than this: Only Jesus' blood sacrifice redeems us sinners.
